Brightpearl was developed and founded by Chris Tanner. Born out of his frustration with the limits of other small business software programs and their lack of connectivity whilst running his previous business, Lush Longboards, he used his programming skills to build his own. A new system to help him manage his entire business. Thus Brightpearl was founded on the principle of helping small businesses free themselves from their admin headaches through the use of affordable software which integrates separate business functions into one easy-to-use system. In doing so, these small businesses are able to focus on what's important, like selling more or servicing their customers better.

Chris Tanner and Andrew Mulvenna became friends as university undergraduates in 1999. Together they worked at a skateboard company called Lush Longboards, which Chris founded in his basement. After graduating, Chris grew Lush Longboards to become the 3rd largest long skateboard company globally and Andrew joined a global IT company where his roles included Venue Technology Manager for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games.
Whilst running Lush, Chris was frustrated by the expense and limited functionality offered by business software, like Sage and Netsuite. Lacking the budget to buy an expensive IT system but possessing some nifty programming skills, Chris started to evolve Brightpearl.
In 2006 Chris realised the potential of the Brightpearl system and spent a year developing the platform more fully. In the summer of 2007, Brightpearl was piloted with the first live client (a pal called Iain) with great success. Chris decided it was time to sell Lush and launch Brightpearl. He contacted Andrew and they reunited to get Brightpearl off the ground.
Brightpearl has attracted interest from investors and clients from around the world and is backed by Eden Ventures and Notion Capital. Chris and Andrew have attracted a team of seriously talented and entrepreneurial people, supported by a group of experienced advisors.
