Selling worldwide via a number of boutiques and department stores, as well as online via their website www.cocoroselondon.com, the brand has been growing 40-50% year on year since the business began in 2007.

Starting out at the trendy East End markets in London, they are now gaining exposure in a number of cutting edge retail stores around the globe.

Their founder and Creative Director, Janan Leo has been invited for the third year to design a bespoke and exclusive pair of shoes for the Orange British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) Gift Bags, presented to all the Nominees and Presenters attending the awards and in Spring 2012 will launch a range in partnership with The Royal Ballet, Covent Garden.

Cocorose Director Gareth spoke to us about why the company decided on Brightpearl as their business software of choice.

"Like many small businesses at their conception, we were mainly working in Excel. After a very short time this became incredibly time consuming and it was very difficult to keep track of everything. Due to the increased growth of our business, we decided to look into alternative business software to help us with our stock control and invoicing.

After my previous experiences using business software there was one thing for certain - I didn’t want to use Sage! The accounts are important, but we employ an Accountant for that, so we needed a system that was small business friendly and avoided a heavy accounts focus at its front end. We wanted business software that was simple to set up, straightforward to use and could be accessed online.

Being able to gain access anytime, anywhere is essential for our business. We manufacture in the Far East and the UK, and spend a large proportion of the year with suppliers in China or at Exhibitions in Europe and America. If I’m travelling I don’t want to have to carry my laptop everywhere around with me because our business software is sat on it. We need to be able to access our information where ever we are.

We looked at a number of different platforms including Quickbooks, Xero and Netsuite. But Brightpearl was the one we felt most comfortable with. It ‘ticked the boxes’ in terms of being able to handle the processes our company required as well as being a web based solution. The move to Brightpearl was pretty easy, and we’ve all found it straightforward to use. Getting the products and invoices set up was simple and everything else that we’ve wanted to do we have been able to learn ourselves. We’d definitely recommend Brightpearl as a system for other businesses to get on board with.

Brightpearl has saved us a huge amount of time

A comprehensive and customer friendly system, Brightpearl lets us track our invoices, giving us complete visibility of who owes us money, where they are from and when we invoiced them. Previously we were creating all these invoices manually in Excel and now it’s just the click of a few buttons and your invoice is done. We can send this information straight to our UK warehouse to be picked, and it even reminds us when the invoice is due. Using Brightpearl has saved us a huge amount of time and enables us to reduce human error.

As a small business, cashflow is our life. Brightpearl’s reporting functionality lets me keep constant track of who we’ve sold to, who owes us money and makes sure we don’t miss an order. Brightpearl has really helped us to develop our business processes too. Being a small business with a small number of people working full-time there are aspects of admin that you just want to forget. Brightpearl gives us this freedom; we can minimise the day to day admin associated with sales.

I would say that if we have had to use the customer support then it has been great. They responded to my issue very swiftly and gave me a comprehensive answer to my problem. I would like to spend more time learning about more of Brightpearl’s functionality. I know that we are not using the system to its full potential at the moment. As our business is growing we want to expand our use of the software to find the other ways that it could help our business. We are really happy with Brightpearl as a system.”
