SecureTrading can be used to allow customers to make payments when they place an order on your website or for credit customers to pay for quotes, orders, invoices and make on-account payments through the web portal. You can also use it to take payment in the back-office.
SecureTrading is one of the UK's leading payment service providers, they will even help you get going with a merchant account if you don't yet have one. SecureTrading is fully integrated with Brightpearl, both for ecommerce/online sales and also back-office virtual terminal payments. Setting Up Your SecureTrading Account
- Request a Merchant account from your bank.
- Sign up for an account with SecureTrading.
- Follow the links below - copy and paste the text into Notepad.
- Update the URL & email with your own details in the files - you only need to change the bits written in capitals - save the files (.txt)
- Log into your SecureTrading account and go to the File Manager section.
- Upload the 2 files.
Setting Up Brightpearl with SecureTrading
Once you've got yourself merchant account with your bank, a SecureTrading account, and uploaded the 2 files as above, you need to set up your Brightpearl system.
- In Brightpearl, go to Setup > Other > Payment methods.
- Click the Set up Securetrading link.
- Enter a name and description for your payment method as you want it to display in Brightpearl screens.
- Select the Yes radio button to make the method active.
- Select the bank account nominal code where the accounting entries are to be recorded.
- Specify the order status that order should be given when they are paid using this method.
- Specify whether you want inventory items to automatically be allocated to orders when they are paid using this method.
- Enter your SecureTrading sitereference as provided by SecureTrading.
- Enter an email address where you'd like notifications of payments to be sent.
- Select the payment mode:
- Settle Payments - select this if the payment is received straightway and should be receipted and posted to accounts immediately.
- Deferred - select this if the payment will be received later - you will need to later release the funds in SecureTrading and then confirm this in Brightpearl to receipt the payment and create the accounting.
- Click the Save settings button.
- Test your connection:
- If you are using ecommerce - Log into your ecommerce website and buy something to create a test transaction.
- If you are using the back-office payment console - Open an order and take a test payment, see below for help.
- Once you're happy that everything is functioning correctly, send an email to SecureTrading to request go-live.
Taking a MOTO Payment Using SecureTrading (Back-office Payment Console)
Once you've setup SecureTrading to work with Brightpearl back-office you can easily process payments against your sales orders and customer accounts.
- Create a new or open an existing sales order.
- Click the Take Payment button on the bottom right of the products tab.
- The payment console is displayed, click the SecureTrading Card Concole button.
- Check the billing details and payment amount are correct and click the Proceed to SecureTading button.
- Enter the card details as requested and click the Take Payment button at the bottom of the form.
If the payment was successful you will be redirected back to the orders screen and the order will be updated to reflect the payment received. Detailed information about the transaction will show as a note added to the Notes and payment history tab, including the SecureTrading payment reference and the bank auth code. All accounting transactions are made for you!
Taking Payment for a Quote or On-Account using SecureTrading
If you have an order on file for a client you can allow the client to pay for it from your website or portal. The client will need to log in to their Brightpearl account and view the orders or statement tab to see orders with outstanding payments. Your client can then select to pay the outstanding amount using SecureTrading and will be redirected to the SecureTrading website to enter their payment details. On successful payment appropriate journals will be created and the order will be marked as paid. The client will be shown a confirmation screen to notify them that payment has been successfully taken.
