How and when are inventory levels updated on eBay?

When you first connect your eBay listings to Brightpearl products the inventory level is NOT updated. All subsequent changes to inventory levels in Brightpearl ARE updated within 60 seconds.

The reason the quantity is not updated on first linking items is because you may already have a quantity on eBay from an existing listing, which doesn’t exist in Brightpearl. This could cause the quantity to be set to zero on eBay and your listing potentially begin closed by mistake! Think about the following scenario:

You have had an item listed on eBay, let’s say a Mug, for some time, the currently quantity listed on eBay is 10. Up until now you’ve kept your eBay sales separate so you never added this item as a product in Brightpearl. Now that you’re starting up the eBay Integrator you create a new Brightpearl product for the mug and connect it to your eBay listing. Since the inventory level in Brightpearl is zero you do not want your eBay listing to be synchronised! You will, however, need to update your Brightpearl inventory level to match your physical inventory, so you create a stock correction to indicate you have 10 mugs; this updates your Brightpearl inventory level and keeps your accounting in-line. This subsequent change will be synchronised with eBay and so the two inventory levels (eBay and Brightpearl) will be equal (unless you have configured it to not update).

What do I need to do if I add a new item on eBay?

If you list a new item on eBay it will automatically be listed in Brightpearl on your eBay Listings report. You will need to then connect it to a product in order to synchronise quantity and price.

Will a new customer record be created every time?

Not every time. If an order is received from someone who has purchased before it will pick up their existing customer record in Brightpearl. It can only match the new eBay order to the Brightpearl record by the email address.

What information is synchronised between eBay and Brightpearl?

Only quantity and price can be synchronised. Your item must be manually listed on eBay and then  linked to the Brightpearl product record.

How long does it take for new eBay orders to appear in Brightpearl?

Orders will automatically download at regular intervals. You can manually go and get orders by clicking the Download orders now button at Sales > Recent Sales/Quotes.

How are prices converted for foreign currency eBay websites?

You can only define one price list in Brightpearl to synchronise with your eBay listings. This should be in the same currency as your “Default site”. It is the prices on this site that will be updated from Brightpearl, eBay will then convert them across any of their other sites you are using.

Can I bulk link listings to Brightpearl products using an Excel / data import?

Not at the moment, but it's on the radar!

Will Brightpearl push tracking nubers to eBat when an order is shipped?

Not at the moment, but we are currently working on Carrier Integration. Once that is complete we will start pudhing tracking numbers to eBay.

My eBay account is not registed in the UK or US, will it work?

At the moment the integration will only work with eBay accounts registered in the UK and US. We will be releasing an update shortly to support more eBay countries.

Why are my orders coming through to Brightpearl with no Tax?

If you are a UK seller you should set your eBay account to be a business account and specify your VAT registration number. When listing your products on eBay you should set the VAT rate into the field "Applicable VAT rate included in sales price". Alternatively you can bulk edit your live eBay listings by clicking My eBay, in the Seller section view your active listings. Select the items to update and click the Edit button.

I have synchronised with PayPal, why are my eBay orders still unpaid?

When you synchronise with PayPal you must do so from your sales listing in order for Brightpearl to recognise that you wish to carry out the further steps of matching eBay orders. If you you synchronise with PayPal from your PayPal Log report it will only download the details of the transactions and will not create any accounting or mark orders as paid.
