1. Register your eBay account for business use
Once you are signed up with an eBay account you will need to register your account for business use before you can list items for sale.
- Log in to your eBay account.
- Click the My eBay link in the top right of the screen.
- Select the Account tab.
- Select Personal information from the menu on the left hand side.
- Click the Edit link against Account type.
- Select which type of account you need; business or personal.
- Click Continue.
- You will be asked to log in again to confirm the change.
2. Register your VAT Identification Number with eBay
In order to claim back the VAT you pay on your seller fees and receive invoices for fees net of VAT you must register your VAT ID number with eBay. Once this is done you will also be able to record the VAT rate to apply to your listings:
- Click this link to register your VAT Identification Number with eBay (you may need to log in).
- You will be asked to select your country code and enter your VAT ID Number and company name.
- Tick the checkbox to accept and agree to the statement.
- Click the I agree button to submit yout request for excemption.

3. Set a VAT rate on a listing
Once eBay have processed your VAT registration you will be able to enter the VAT rate as you create your sales listing.
If your circumstances change and you are no longer eligible for VAT excemption you need to contact eBay immediately to update your details.
