The final step in your Magento connection is to link up your Brightpearl reference data, such as Brands and Options, to the Magento equivalent. This is important so that Magento can recognise your Brightpearl products and display them correctly. Once you have completed these steps your product information will begin to synchronise.
In this guide you will learn:
- How inventory quantities are synchronised
- How prices are updated
1. How inventory quantities are synchronised
Brightpearl will automatically keep your inventory levels on Magento matched with the “on hand” value in the Brightpearl database, using the warehouse you have selected for the Magento sales channel. Every time that “on hand” inventory changes, we instantly send a message to Magento to update. You can change the on hand level by adding or removing stock, manually allocating stock, or creating goods-out notes (fulfilling) sales orders.
Multichannel inventory updating
If you are selling on multiple channels (perhaps via our eBay integration, or the Point of Sale system), then as soon as sales appear from those channels, Brightpearl will automatically allocate any available stock. This will decrease the “on hand” level, which then gets pushed out to your other sales channels - so that you never sell the same item twice!
2. How prices are updated
Any time you change prices on the integrated price list (the one connected to the Magento sales channel), we update Magento immediately.
UK merchants (VAT tax mode)
You will need to check whether your Magento is set up to expect prices including or excluding tax. In Magento, go to System > Configuration, then from the left hand side choose “Tax” and open the “Calculation settings”. If your Brightpearl integrated price list is set to include tax, then set Magento Catalogue prices to Include tax. There’s another setting in the “Price Display Settings” section which defines what your Magento store actually displays.
US merchants (Sales tax mode)
We’d expect all your price lists to be set NOT to show prices including tax, so confirm that your Magento store is set up in the same way. In Magento, go to System : Configuration, then from the left hand side choose “Tax”. Open the “Calculation settings”. Set Magento Catalogue prices to Exclude tax.
