Order fulfilment is the process of creating goods-out notes. It is the step between taking a new order and shipping it. By fulfilling the order you will:
- Reserve the inventory for the order (if not already allocated)
- Create the goods-out note
Fulfilment revolves around the concept of goods-out notes. Think of a goods-out note as an instruction from your sales team to your warehouse team to "send this stuff" - even if you're doing it all yourself.
Fulfilment does not mark your order as shipped. Only shipping the goods-out note will remove the items from inventory, update the order shipping status and post the accounting entries for inventory and cost of sales. Shipping is done using the Print, Pick, Pack & Ship process which can only be done once you have created a goods-out note by fulfilling.
There are three different fulfilment options:
- Fulfil and ship later
- Fulfil and ship now
- Partial/advanced fulfil
