Black Friday and Cyber Monday are slowly creeping up on us and it’s time for retailers to decide whether or not to participate so, yesterday we shared what retailers can learn from Black Friday and Cyber Monday and the pros and cons of getting involved. If you think the pros outweigh the cons and you’re considering participating in Black Friday or Cyber Monday, these top tips for success during the hectic discount weekend are for you!

1. Prioritize your stock

On the discount days, you have the choice to promote your best sellers so you’re guaranteed more sales or offer crazy discounts on your products with high-inventory levels to clear some space in your warehouse. Whichever you decide is best for your business, make sure you’re prepared with enough stock on hand and enough staff to pick, pack and ship your orders.

2. Aim for excellent customer service

Even in the stressful, busy periods like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it’s important to keep your shoppers happy and offer excellent customer service, both in store and online. Over the discount weekend, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and retailers often see a rise in bad reviews, so make sure you’re prepared to keep a smile on your face through the craze. At the end of the day, you’re aiming for them to become long-term, loyal and returning customers, right?

3. Optimize your website and get mobile

This tip is especially important for Cyber Monday as traffic will increase to your website. Make sure your ecommerce site is ready to handle the influx in visitors and ensure you’re optimized for mobile as almost 50% of sales were made on mobile, up 31% from this time last year, according to Internet Retailing. So, get your site ready your those extra shoppers and mobile bargain hunters.
