BRISTOL, UK – 7 June 2019 – GREEN-FINGERED volunteers from Brightpearl have been rejuvenating garden areas and providing care to animals at Windmill Hill City Farm.
On Wednesday (5th June 2019), seven volunteer members of Brightpearl staff, a leading tech-stalwart headquartered in Bristol’s city centre, completed a day of much-needed support in the development and maintenance of the farm for the benefit of the local community.
The team got stuck in with a range of tasks, from cleaning the duck pond and children’s playground, to tree maintenance and making sure the animals were kept fed and happy.
Windmill Hill City Farm, based in Bedminster, Bristol, is a charity that provides recreation, education and therapy using food, farming and the environment as a theme.
Windmill Hill City Farm was formed in 1976 by a volunteer group of local residents determined to see a piece of inner city wasteland put to more productive use, giving the local community the opportunity to experience farming in the heart of the city.
Lauren McLaren, Office & Finance Assistant at Brightpearl, was one of Brightpearl’s volunteers. She says: “We had a great time volunteering at the farm - it was really rewarding to give something back to the local community. It was great for team building and satisfying to see the results of the work and the difference we could make - even if we were all quite achy and muddy by the end of the day!”
Jacqui Fernandez, Chief of Staff at Brightpearl, adds: “Our staff themselves chose to volunteer at Windmill Hill City Farm because many are local to the area and have a vested interest in supporting the farm to benefit the local community.
