Finance Manager

About the role

We are looking for a Finance Manager to join our busy Finance team in Bristol. This is a broad ranging finance role and ideal for someone looking to play a pivotal role in a small finance team. The role reports to both, CFO (e-Shares, company secretarial, insurance) and Group Financial Controller (management and financial accounts).

Primary Responsibilities:

Management/financial accounts

  • Preparation and management of monthly management accounts process in line with month end schedule and timetable
  • Submission of management accounts to VC investors for the purposes of their internal reporting and dealing with any subsequent questions/surveys etc
  • Submission of management accounts and associated documentation to Clydesdale Bank
  • Monthly OPEX reviews with Departmental heads; to include forward looking discussions around future projected spend
  • Prepare year end financial accounts ready for statutory audit
  • Work with statutory auditors throughout audit process to completion and sign off
  • Working with Billing Administrator on management of aged debtors
  • e-Shares (electronic cap table management platform)
  • Maintain the detail of the Brightpearl Ltd cap table
  • Maintain the detail of share options issued, due to be issued and option pool level
  • Liaise with the relevant authorities / advisors to obtain secure valuations in the UK and the US and process option issues in accordance with Board instructions


  • Work with external US tax advisers (where necessary) on preparation and completion of tax computations and filings at the Federal, State, County & City level for Brightpearl Inc
  • Work with statutory auditors on annual tax computations and filing in the UK
  • Preparation of supporting documentation for annual R&D tax credit claim (in liaison with statutory auditor)
  • EMI / EIS Compliance

Company Secretarial

  • Maintain statutory books

  • Annual filings in the UK / Federal & state filings in the US


  • Accounting software - evaluate alternatives to current solution and be key member of team implementing new solution
    • ensure that a suitably robust, easy to use purchase requisition system is in place
  • Insurance - working with UK and US insurance brokers on renewal of policies and implementing new policies where relevant


Finance Manager Key Attributes

  • Qualified or near-qualified accountant, ideally with experience in an SME/ Tech environment

  • A motivated and confident individual looking to take on responsibility
  • Experience with cloud accounting systems, ideally Xero
  • Ability to deliver against tight deadlines
  • Adaptable and flexible - comfortable with the pace of change that comes with working in a high growth business
